A really great companion.

It would had been great to have this textbook with me while in my school years. It is always a delight to consult Kaplan's text, since it covers most of the lab issues with enough depth. The illustrations are not colored, but they are still pedagogic. Also, the text is enriched with lots of tables that I have found really useful. Besides this new edition is accompanied with a CD (which to be honest I haven't explore deeply). My opinion is that of a professional which has had to reference by work demands, I'm no student, but as I said before this would have made a great companion.

Great resource!

This text book has a little of everything. A great book to keep on your desk when you need a brief overview of something in the lab. It's sort of like all of your college sophmore math/chem/biology texts condensed into one book.

Stiil Good Fun on Re-Read as an Adult

Typically, I'm not much of a "re-reader," but this one is an exception for me as it connects back to a few of the last truly happy childhood memories that I have. This was one of the first books I picked up for my new Kindle Fire late last year when Amazon featured a few of Ronald Dahl's books. I'm really glad I picked it up and re-read this one. It was a bit of bright spot for me right now. Ronald Dahl has a very wry and whimsical writing style that won't appeal to all adults. _James and the Giant Peach_ requires the ability to suspend disbelief and just enjoy the outrageous situations, unlikely "critter" traveling companions, and over-the-top villains. If you can suspend adult thinking and just take the story as-it-comes, it's a grand adventure and a lot of fun. I'm really glad I decided to re-read this, even though I don't often re-read books.

For parents, yes, in "Dahl fashion" there is a bit of colorful language in this book. Read it first. Or better yet, read it with your kids and use it as an opportunity for discussion. If your child is younger, and you're reading to them, you could always substitute words, I suppose. Kids hear a lot worse in "real life" on network tv nowadays, so don't let that hinder the enjoyment you could get out of the story.

My son loved this script version of the classic story!

My 7 year old son had to write a book report on a play or script so I needed to find something that would be appropriate for his age. I found this book on Amazon and hoped that he would enjoy it. He loved it! He loved the wonderful Roald Dahl story, but also how the book gives helpful tips for stage setting and costumes. He wants to put on this play himself! Customers need to realize this is a SCRIPT for a PLAY of "James and the Giant Peach". It has been ADAPTED from the original story to serve the purpose of theatre. If that fits your needs, I highly recommend this book!

Well-Received Birthday Gift

After reading some of the descriptions of Roald Dahl's books and a few reviews, I ordered two books by him as a birthday present for my nine-year-old nephew and had them mailed to him. He actually wrote me a thank-you note saying "Thank you so much for my present. I love them so much. I read the books all the time. I love them so much!" "Danny, the Champion of the World" was the title of one and the other was "James and the Giant Peach." Books like this spark a child's imagination and help develop a love of reading.

Good but not great

I may have purchased this on an impulse, or maybe I'm not quite committed to read this as recommended, but it basically .gives several scenarios of difficult situations in the work place.

I was showing my co-workers and they kind of just laughed about it. There seems to be some helpful tips in there, but really I think that one can handle any situation best by experience.

Anyone who feels they need to memorize a book full ...

Anyone who feels they need to memorize a book full of responses is missing the underlying problem = confidence. And if you have confidence then you simply learn to trust your own thinking. Besides - it would be almost impossible to memorize all this. Just not practicle. People need simple solutions that can be applied to lots of situations not scripts to remember.

Dr. Aaron Horschig is the founder of SquatUniversity.com. A physical therapist, coach, speaker, and writer, Dr. Horschig is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He works with such athletes as international soccer players, MLB and NFL athletes, national-level Olympic weightlifters, and youth athletes.

Dr. Horschig s writing is published in numerous professional journals. A piece coauthored by Dr. Horschig and Travis Neff appeared in the International Journal of Sports Physical Therapy and presented a new way to periodize a weight-training program with the back squat after ACL reconstruction.
