Good book about how we are called to shine-to live in such a way that others would see Christ's character radiating in us to the glory of God the Father. When Christ shines in us, we represent His Kingdom on earth.
Recommend to all Christians that want to shine for Christ.

great book for daily life and life @ work

3 reasons why this book is important to read:
1 - because we were made to shine. Jesus said in Matthew 5 that it's through our God-saltiness and our God-brightness in daily life that people see this gracious and loving God who wants to shine in and through us. It's what we were made for. It's how God is know.
2- because Kris calls us to beyond-self living, and it's only when we live beyond ourselves that life works, that we are empowered and in-powered for living.
3 - because being the church is an all 168 hours of the week thing, and Kris challenges us to that kind of living and that kind of loving and that kind of leading.
Check it out and pass it along to the people that you listen to and lead in your life.

Best book in existence for people involved in "Business As Missions"

Without a doubt, this is by far the best book I've ever read on the subject of running a business following Christian principals. Kris very clearly shows you how he was able to get his business going in a successful direction while honoring the truths found in God's word, and not hiding the fact that their success came directly from God. He also shows you how you can freely demonstrate your faith and dedication (to God) to your clients, your employees, and the community around you... And how their response is one of complete trust in how you conduct business, regardless of their own religious beliefs. I've been known to use the highlighter rather extensively when reading a good book, but I pretty much wore my highlighter out with all that I wanted to go back and reference at a later date. I loved how much he references specific scripture all throughout the entire book. It even helped me a great deal during a time when I had to go back to working as an employee (rather than small business owner) doing very physically demanding work... The concept of knowing that I was working "as unto the Lord" was very vividly in my mind after reading Shine... There's really great principals explained for employees to follow. And because Kris even shares how he handled a very challenging time in his life, when he nearly lost his young 9 yr old daughter Gracyn, I was encouraged to continue walking in faith no matter what I was dealing with... I still get it out from time to time for encouragement and inspiration. I hope to someday soon have my business become a very successful enterprise... One that provides people with work they can feel proud of, and truly enjoy being a part of, and at the same time honors the Lord. I've always wanted my business to be based on God's principals found in the Bible, but the best example of how that business should function has all been laid out here in this book by Kris DenBesten. I've recently heard that Kris will soon be releasing a new revised edition under a similar name, so I plan to get that too, just as soon as its released.
