About the Author
HORACIO J. MARQUEZ is currently Associate Professor and Associate Chair of Graduate Studies in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta, Canada. Dr. Marquez has published numerous articles in journals and conference proceedings on subjects including control theory, nonlinear systems, robust control, and gain scheduling. He received the University of Alberta McCalla Research Professorship for 2003—04.

A very good book for anyone who is new to nonlinear control. After finishing this one, I would recommend you to continue with Nonlinear and Adaptive Control Design (ISBN-13: 978-0471127321). Enjoy your studying !

Used this book for a graduate level introductory non-linear control class. As the review title says, its full of symbols. It is purely theory and equations. No real life "useful" example. however, compared to other nonlinear control books, this gives lot more examples. 99% of real world applications use some type of linearised control. I suppose this book reflects the research in nonlinear control i.e theory and equations and almost no real world application.
