Solid meditation introduction

A solid meditation introduction and simple instructions on how to get started with different types of meditation such as mindfulness meditation, meditation focusing on the breath, loving kindness meditation, mantra meditation and more. It is a good absolute beginners guide.

The only part that was just not for me was the mantras given in the book as examples. I'm not at all a fan of mantras which sound like positive affirmations. I dislike this sort of forced and to me, fake feeling, optimism. (Especially after just finishing reading the book 'The Antidote' which talked about how counter-productive positive affirmations are!) I'd have much preferred some more suble affirmations listed, and also some that were not in English. But that is just a personal preference. I also don't think meditating is going to get me any more money, despite what the book subtitle is. Nor will it cure all health issues, though of course it can have some positive effect.

I found this book useful, well-written and well-edited and would recommend it.

Very complete mindfulness techniques, explained well, but simply. Many techniques are given as well as how to use them in your life. Very helpful and concise instruction!!
